Aqua-TEC for Total Environmental Control
Dehumidification
The Aqua-TEC unit cycles on for humidity control, which is necessary for protecting the building from damage caused by excessive moisture while simultaneously ensuring patron comfort. Moisture is removed when warm moist pool air is drawn over the cold coil. Water vapor from the pool air is cooled below dew point, condenses on the cooling coil and then literally leaves the building through the drain. This process also captures significant heat, which is recycled by the Aqua-TEC unit for other environmental demands.
Pool Water Heating
The Aqua-TEC unit is designed for “On Demand” Pool water heating. Recycled heat is only directed to the pool when needed. Other systems use the pool as a “heat sink” (dumping refrigerant system heat to the water even if the pool temperature is satisfied). This practice can lead to overheating of the pool or knocking the pool water chemistry out of equilibrium; both equally damaging to your patron’s comfort.
Space Cooling
The Aqua-TEC unit can respond to space cooling demands by directing the system heat to either an outdoor air-cooled condenser or internal water-cooled condenser. The air off the cooling coil typically has enough cooling capacity to ensure that the space temperature does not rise to uncomfortable levels during the hottest days of the year. When year-round patron comfort is vital, the Aqua-TEC unit delivers. Also note that the Aqua-TEC unit can provide concurrent space cooling and pool water heating further enhancing the recycling capabilities of the Aqua-TEC system.
Ventilation
The Aqua-TEC unit has an opening on the suction side of the fan to draw fresh air into the space to meet established guidelines for maintaining acceptable indoor air quality. Chemical concentrations in the pool room, which off-gas from the pool water, are reduced by meeting these ventilation guidelines. No doubt a breath of fresh air for you, your workers and your patrons. Running a separate fan to exhaust slightly more air than fresh air drawn in also ensures that pool smells stay in the pool instead of taking over locker rooms or your lobby.
Space Heating
The Aqua-TEC unit directs heated refrigerant into a unit mounted internal air-cooled condenser downstream of the cooling coil to reheat the cool off-evaporator. Using recycled heat ensures that beneficial warm dry air is delivered to the pool facility. “Built-up” systems dehumidify with cooling coils with one system that diverts system heat to outside condensers—a waste of heat, and then operates another heating system to reheat that cooled air adding to energy costs. By reheating with recycled system heat, the Aqua-TEC unit appeals to our energy conservation sensitivities.

Designed specifically for the harsh indoor pool environment, the Aqua-TEC unit will control all of the comfort requirements for your pool facility.

Other systems are designed to function for one or two of the environmental demands.

While these systems can be “built up” to meet all of the comfort requirements, several separate systems are needed with energy inputs necessary for each system.

Instead of the one energy input required for the Aqua-TEC unit— “built up” systems are by nature inefficient to operate and equally difficult to control.
